The Way of Colour

Breakthrough

19C breezy. Started bright then heavy showers by midday.

Once again hoping to get the front lawn cut Maeve the Deerhound and I went for our walk just after 11am. Walked down the road towards the shore. Had another go at getting a photo or two of the combine harvester which is still sitting in the field. Very dark clouds overhead. Looked likely to be showery before the afternoon was out.

Crossed over the level crossing and onto the beach. Not a soul on the beach, or out on the rocks. Not a dog to be seen. One man working in the blue boat. Found some Sea Glass as we walked along and popped it in my pocket with a couple of nice shells. No one to be seen at the huts. Had a wander round "Valhalla V" by the hut at the far end, and back down on to the beach by the creel rack. The sun was back out by then and was lighting up one side of "Wee Peem". My attention was caught by a little spot of orange. Blip :-)

We walked back up to the hut area and headed towards the cottages. A man came out and emptied out the remains of a drink from his mug. Maeve barked at him. No idea why. Not a fan of mug shaking ? We stopped to say hello and a lady came out of the hut and made a fuss of Maeve.

As we carried on walking and headed past the cottages at the back of the beach a lady with two small girls came out of what I take to be a holiday let. We have seen different people in and out of it recently. Maeve had to have more attention. The lady chatted to me and petted Maeve, and the little girls hung back nervously. As we carried on our way Maeve broke into the showing off routine, grabbing her lead then bouncing and jumping along the road beside me. I could hear the little girls break into fits of giggles. A much better beach and huts experience for us both today :-)

Not long before we reached home the rain came on. Best laid plans laid aside again. Showers on and off since with sunshine in between. In between showers it is very nice. The grass is wet. Electric lawnmower! The forecast says dry for tomorrow, or at least it says that at the moment. Fingers crossed. Front and back lawns all need mowed :-(

Edit update: The breeze has dried the front grass ... so ... later there has been mowing :-)
