Our Nordman Christmas tree

We set off to fetch our Christmas tree this morning and drove up through the thick mists on the hilltop to Stancombe Beech farm. A couple of weeks ago we'd been there to choose the tree we wanted and had marked it.

We walked across the muddy tracks between the fields and the farmshop and noticed that there was a lot of trees had gone. Once we found our one, it didn't take long for us to decide tat we preferred another one a few yards away. So I took a few pictures of the tree in its field setting and did this close-up on the needles which had collected the moisture from the hanging mists producing these lovely water droplets.

Then I cut down the tree and brought it home. This was a moment when my awareness of winter's onset arrived.
