Perched on the Edge of Christmas

Yes, it IS a Christmassy shot - ickle baby Jesus was born in a barn, so there must have been some chooks around... It always bothered me in the nativity that Joseph was so accepting of the immaculate conception and wasn't immediately on the phone to the Jerry Springer Show to find out who Mary had been sleeping with.

Anyway, with the credit crunch biting, and rumours persisting that the Three Wise Men have had to tighten their belts and bring gifts of tin, Hai Karate and I-Can't-Believe-It's-Not-Myrrh, perhaps it's time to remember the true spirit of the season and, as Bill and Ted would exclaim, be excellent to each other.

It really would make a change from the perception on the news of what makes Christmas. All the economic reports focus on families having to cut back on presents and so on and so forth. Now I like presents, giving and receiving, but the blatant linking of a good and proper Christmas to the amount you can spend is just stretching things too far. but I guess we long ago forgot that it should really all just be about family and friends and relaxing and celebrating and, well, being excellent.

So, Merry Saturnalia!

And just in case I'm maybe a little late in catching a number of people who will already be stuffing themselves full of festive cheer, here's also hoping that 2009 brings you everything you want from life. And if it doesn't, that it's at least better than 2008. And if it's not then there's always 2010 to look forward to.

Yesterday's blip came in late...
