Old Man's Beard

Another moist day on site. Banavie, on the edge of Fort William, should normally present great views to the western Mamores, The Grey Corries, The Aonachs, Carn Mor Dearg and of course The Ben. Today saw the mist hugging the hills almost down to sea level at times. Any thoughts of a pleasing mountain shot were quickly dismissed. Instead I was forced to look a few inches in to the distance rather than miles.

Short focus distance dictates a small aperture to have any depth of field and in conjunction with low light demands a long exposure. Despite bracing the camera the foliage itself is nodding about in the breeze too.

Apparently thriving Old Man's Beard is a sign of good air quality.
