Moeraki Boulders

We are nicely settled into our house in Dunedin, a three bedroom and very modern two storey number.
It's been an extremely hot nor west windy day, very tiring driving with a number of stops along the way.   First one was at the Steam Punk HQ at Oamaru where after wards we sat on the harbour wall and had our picnic.  Then onto the Boulders shown here with Ella performing for the camera. Multitudes of tourists there!
A quick tour around Moeraki township, a really pretty little seaside gem.  Then onto Dinedin.  As we drove south we could see huge billows of smoke and when we reached the Dunedn City we could see just where and how large the fire was.  Helicopters with monsoon buckets were doing their best as were those on the ground.  Frightening but by around 5 pm it was under control.
We walked into town for dinner then back uphill to our place, puff puff.  The helicopters were still working, but very little smoke, we could see the damage on the hills.  I don't think any houses were threatened fortunately. The strong winds continue.

I'm having an early night - heat, travel and wines have made me nice and snoozy.
