A highlight for Harry

Our day started with a hilarious FaceTime with Lexi.  I say hilarious as she was really on form, pulling funny faces that were meant to be smiles.  A great way to start our day.
We were booked in for a tour of the Cadbury's chocolate factory at 11 am.  Ella and Harry were excited about the prospect of getting free chocolates - they weren't disappointed.  How the tours have changed over the years, I recall (as camp mum) taking our country kids there, where we were allowed on the factory floor, and collecting seconds and loading up their bags.  Now of course Health and Safety have banned this, in fact we never even saw the factory at all.  Still the tour was fun and informative, we had a great guide which made the tour full of fun and interest.
From there we walked to the Otago Museum, having lunch then to the Tropical Forest to see the butterfly's.  Gosh, they were magnificent, so many species of every design, colour and size.  The blues seldom settled but maybe this one is a Chelsea supporter as he took a liking to Harry.

Here are five interesting facts about Blue Morpho:
1. These beautiful butterflies are one of the largest in the world, with a wingspan of up to 20 cm.
2. The top of their wings is bright blue and the bottom is dull brown.  This helps them to hide when they sitting down or confuse predators with the bright flashing when they are flying.
3. They drink the juices from rotting fruit by unrolling their long proboscis and sucking it up like a straw.
4. The entire life cycle of a blue morpho butterfly from egg to adult to death is just 115 days.
5. Blue morpho butterflies live in large groups and can be found in the rainforests of South America, central America and Mexico.

Spent the remainder of the afternoon out at St Clair beach......the huge seas crashed onto the promenade, combining with a high tide showed just how much energy is generated.

Dinner is going to be at Budda Stix in an hour or so.  We're all a feeling slightly jaded and enjoying a rest before going out.
