Dan D, DS, and Gordon C at the back, with Robert D. at the front - almost time for the Christmas lunch, on the last day "at work", as opposed to, "of work", for this year. Won't be back until the New Year, and a good number of our qualified colleagues won't be back.

The ups and recent big downs of the building industry, led the partners to decide to clear out the majority of the staff that trained and qualified with the company over recent years - a fairly high percentage of the staff. It was back on 20th October that the partners gave two months notice of the redundancies to: Dan D, Gordon C, Euan T, Brian C, Bob L, Ian R, Gordon H, Andrew S, Jim S, Roddy B, and the last two Angus N, and David L. also left, but I never knew if that was by choice, or misfortune.

Leaves all but one of the trainees, the more senior staff, and a few others. Scary in some ways, and initially I felt guilty at being spared, especially as I don't see myself as ever becoming a surveyor, and would far rather do something else. The good news from this, and something to be noted, was that every one of the twelve previously mentioned, went to a better job! Had they not been made redundant, and forced to find something else, they'd have likely plodded on, safe where they were, for years. As I said, something to be noted...
