Winter Jasmine

A new write up as I mistook it for Forsythia.
Introduced to Europe by the Duke of Tuscany 1699. Legend says  he ordered that no cuttings should be taken as he wanted to keep the jasmine just for himself. His poor gardener, however, cut a sprig for his sweetheart's birthday. She planted it and when it took root, she sold cuttings to the wealthy ladies who loved the aroma.. With the money  earned, she married her gardener. In memory of the woman who used a gift of love to make a life of happiness for her and her sweetheart, the jasmine is often carried in bridal bouquets.. In China, jasmine is added to tea giving it a pleasing and attractive scent.
