Bruno Mars up a tree

Bruno has been around for many years. He is frightened of his own shadow, and even when we had many more hens than now, he never paired up with any. He is quite a silly boy and I've chosen him for my silly saturday blip, hosted kindly by Admirer.

Like all our aninals,(apart from the chicks ) Bruno was an unwanted , rescued addition. The sad thing about animal rescue is that many of our adopted aninals are not with us for very long. It seems we take on the old or disabled, that live out their final days with as much comfort and freedom as we can provide.

Sadly, today we found that Henry our young disabled duck that was part of the school hatching project, and who had come to us in July, had died in his sleep, curled up with the other older disabled duck. He was so gentle and we shall miss him waddling around with his fellow ducks.

In 2012, when our animal rescue charity neighbours relocated, we kept 13 of the cats that had climbed the fence to live with us. Now, there are only 5 who have survived, and Lottie, the feral who now won't leave the house, looks as though she is nearing the end of her life.

As 2016 is at a close, we wish all our Blip friends a very happy new year, and hope that 2017 brings good health and happiness.
