If you can't beat them...

Solace Day 2.

I wasn't up early enough to catch the beautiful sunrise which Clickychick saw.  My own fault but on holiday I am not an early riser!   One of the many pleasures of canal cruising is the wildlife.   This shot is of a Buzzard which lazily took of from a tree beside the canal.   I did notice a shortage or Herons and Kingfishers presumably having moved nearer to the coast where water is less likely to freeze.

The day was comparatively mild which made for pleasant cruising.  Our aim for the day was to tie up at one of our favourite spots Branston Water park.  This was easily achieved but we did find that the canal and River Trust had improved things worse.  What was a lovely spot despite the slightly damaged banks is now a lovely spot with repaired banks.  You are now wondering how that is worse, well the repaired banks have left the water too shallow to get the boat comfortably along side in a large proportion of the area.
