Sunburnt

Normally, the leaves on the vines don't change colour until after the harvest. Here they've been literally sunburnt. Amazingly, a few of the grapes in the bunch you can see are not ripe -- but one reason for the generous leaf canopy is to protect the grapes from excessive sun. I think these grapes must have been late starters.

It won't be long now; all around the village caves are being cleared, wine bottled, machines serviced, tools sharpened, tractors washed ... just as the last of the summer visitors pack their bags, les vendanges arrivent !

Footnote: I haven't blipped vines for a month. But expect quite a few wine-related blips over the next month :)
