Twilight

Scooter is beginning to cause a little concern. Whilst big-sister Bretta seems to understand that she should hang out with the four-legged woolly animals and that the standy-up one in wellies is just the wet-nurse, Scooter is having none of it. Scooter wants to follow me everywhere, including into the house. Naturally we are trying to dissuade him by closing doors in his little face and this makes him bleat. In normal circumstances a bleating lamb will be responded to by it's mother but his real mother just tiptoes quietly away nibbling at things.

We will begin the weaning process very soon and that will mean the lambs get less access to the wet-nurse and more time with the woolly one. If Scooter is maladjusted it may mean that his fate gets re-written. We had assumed that with Bretta being the largest of the lambs, she would be the first to, um, leave home, but if Scooter won't settle with the rest of the flock then, well . . .
Whatever happens, it's going to be hard.
