A breath of fresh air

It is a little over 3 months since I hurt my ankle but I still need to concentrate on my gait to avoid limping, and it is just over 2 months since I slipped and fell and yet my ribs are still painful if I twist.

I decided it might be prudent to visit a doctor just in case there were anything I could or should be doing to improve my recovery rate, but I had no intention of revisiting the opinionated GP in Glossa so I drove to the main Health Centre of Skopelos to take my chances there. As it turns out I didn't have very long to wait at all, there was nobody ahead of me in the queue and so I only just had time to catch this action before the arm was withdrawn from the consulting room window and I was called in to see the Dr, hastily stuffing my camera back into its bag.

The lovely young woman had a very similar approach to my own; Yes people my age recover more slowly than people half my age, and people half my age recover more slowly than people half theirs. Yes there is a possibility that I may have cracked one or more ribs when I fell and no I wouldn't necessarily have been aware of that, even the following morning. Yes by now they have probably reconnected, possibly not quite in perfect alignment. Yes I could go off to see a specialist consultant on the mainland if I so wished but that would be my choice . . . and no, I shouldn't beat myself up over it, I haven't been particularly stupid nor self-neglectful. I should take a little more care in future and remember I am not a teenager any longer.
