Ice-breaking swan!

A clear cold frosty morning. I needed to run an errand in Fontainebleau this morning, so I decided to do my walk in the grounds of the chateau. Both the Étang des Carpes and the grand canal were partially frozen over with a thin layer of ice. This swan was one of two on the grand canal, trying to make a path through the ice. If you look carefully under his outstretched neck, you can make out some of the broken ice. It was fascinating watching him - quite a strange movement.
