Neglect

Weather forecasts here are perhaps more fluid than in some locations. On Monday we expected two good days and the weather to close in on Wednesday. By Wednesday we were still showering in water from the solar water heater on the hillside but had been warned to stock up on Thursday because thereafter travel might be temporarily impossible. We have been here long enough to know it's better to err on the side of caution so even though the forecasts had changed again by Thursday morning we still traipsed into town to stock up. This was in part because once again the dog needed to visit the vet to have his chronic ear infection examined.

This place is opposite the vet's practice and we understand it to be a marble supplier that went bankrupt before we ever came to this island. The marble supplies are all still neatly stacked in the surrounding plot of land, these days kept trim by Gothic sheep. The building, which attracted me, is unfinished. I don't understand how things can be left like this; several tonnes (probably) of really usable marble, some of it single-piece butler sinks, and an almost finished building complete with sliding warehouse doors.
