Seals at Kiel

10.1C with thin cloud, but reasonably bright. Light SSE/SE breeze.

Grocery shopping over by mid morning. Maeve the Deerhound stayed at home. The cloud had become heavy and low enough for there to be smir.

We went the ten miles or so South to Southend then followed the road round past Dunaverty beach and Kiel to Carskey Bay. On the way round we had seen lots of seals on the rocks at Kiel, so we left Maeve in the car and had a wander back along to have a look. I did a rough head count and scattered along the rocks in big groups and the odd one or two on their own there must have been 40 or more seals. Then we went back to the car and walked with Maeve from one end of the beach to the other and back. The view over to the Antrim coast of Northern Ireland was quite clear and the sky was clearing further out to sea as we walked back.

Just one or two people on the beach today, with dogs. Sea calm with a few waves starting to come in as we headed back to the car.

Later Apothecary7 was making a rag rug.
