Wood Duck

An unusual one in my attempt to see how many different wild birds I can blip this year. While wood ducks are common in North America they are not native to the UK and according to the RSPB website they are usually escapees from reserves or private collections.

I remember seeing  a wood duck along this stretch of the River Weaver a couple of times last year but it had always been on the far bank. This time it was a lot closer and I was able to photograph it although the weather was less than ideal. I might try again on a sunnier day

I also caught a glimpse of the kingfisher but no chance of photographing that.
