Birthday breakfast for H (day 9)

It's tough having your birthday so close to Christmas. Everyone is miserable, it's cold and dreary outside, and you can't think of what to ask people for as you've only just had lots of presents for Christmas. Add to that it being the first day back at school after the holidays and you have one unhappy almost 9 year old! So we decided to move his birthday...

He opened his presents yesterday after his party when we could all be together, then today was my day off so we opened his cards and I told him I'd make him anything he wanted for his birthday breakfast. So he chose American style pancakes covered in maple syrup! Yum! (We'll just ignore the fact that whilst I was lighting the candle on top and faffing about getting a blip, the toddler had got hold of his cereal bowl and was pouring milk all over the floor, and on to the dog, whilst happily saying "brekkie time")

Throw in a trip to Smiggle for lots of cool stuff, Waterstones for some new books and Smyths to spend a giftcard and his birthday money and we have one cheered up boy :-)

I just can't believe he'll be 9 tomorrow...
