Plus ça change...

Bath night

Things have changed a bit at the bird table since we've been away. The place is now overrun with redstarts, black redstarts and sparrows. The tits and nuthatch arrive occasionally to hang comically upside down on a bobbing sunflower and peck seeds out. And the 'bird bath' seems very popular on these hot days. (Foreground is the edge of our hammock. I cleared the view later but the light was too poor then.)

Much much cooler day today. Though the thermometer still had the temperature in the high twenties, it felt cold enough to have a proper t-shirt on rather than just a vest, and was definitely cool enough for work in the garden.

The bad news is that Mr B, due to fly out of Heathrow early this morning to come home, was shafted by BA - who closed the flight as he was checking in. A series of "Computer says no" conversations left him (sleep-deprived anyway) on the verge of despair. So he went back into London to get some sleep. He is now on a later flight - which has been delayed by an hour and a half. He did consider not coming home - as he is flying back to London on Monday morning (we forgot about the bank holiday...) but I'm glad he is.
