Return to the North

Wild fire

Sis and I headed out to Far Ings today for our bit of exercise. It was blowing a gale but fine so was nice walking. Well apart from the Humber bank where it really was quite ferocious!
We headed to my favourite hide where we spotted a bittern in flight but I was fascinated by the wind blowing through the reed beds. They have been partially cleared near Ness Hide and as we sat flames started leaping up in front of us. They seemed VERY close for a very windy day!. In fact we had to shut the hide windows so that the burnt bits didn't choke us and the flames certainly ensured little wildlife was spotted! (maybe the bittern who we had seen fly off minutes earlier had ben disturbed by the men controlling the cutting and burning)
Anyway we did see a redwing and some redshanks all of which you can see here. You can also see the burn off.
