Great Ocean Road – almost

Having read so much about the beautiful great ocean road, we felt it’d be a wasted opportunity not to visit it whilst being so close to its start. From Melbourne to the far end and back is about 12 hours driving, so we chose to just go to the start of the road and explore there, only 2.5 hours of driving.
In Anglesea we hired kayaks for 90mins and explored the salt water marshes. A rope swing into the river was a definite highlight. Got very sunburnt whilst kayaking. The outfit were also hiring out tiny 2 horse powered bathtubs for 35$ for 15mins, we couldn’t understand there attraction, but they had a nonstop stream of punters from 9 to 5.

We followed the path from Anglesea to Pt Addis, however, as it ran along the top of unstable sea cliffs, it was quite far from the edge, and hence it didn’t really feel like we were on a cliff top walk at all! A 15km walk and only a tiny bit of a sea view was a bit of a disappointment, but good exercise nevertheless. Enjoyed a classic Brittish Fisn and Chips before returning to Melbourne.
