Tate Modern Blipmeet

What a big one that was!  22 turned up - 18 Blippers and 4 accomplices - and what an interesting time we had!  Others have given details of all sorts of things, so I will give you my view of the day.

First of all, it's been a blooming cold day, so having met up with Chantler63 at Marylebone, I was allowed to leave the tube station at Oxford Circus to go in search of another layer of clothing provided I was quick.  I was. £5 in the sale!  Bargain!  We were still in good time for lunch where we met up with the Blipcrew.  A particularly big welcome to Vivien Titeux and Emma Davies who were out on their very first Blipmeets!  We had travelled from all directions, varying distances, and for the record, in attendance were:  JohnRH with Wendy, Rosiecatwoman with Birgit, PaulyM, Lesley A, Nicoiseannie, Chantler63, AnnieMay, Igor, EmmaDavies, Vivien Titeux, 58Daisies with Adrian, Valerie K, ThingsBeautiful, BlackTulip with JJ, HildasRose with SHH Rob, AH14, JDO. Sorry I can't manage the links!  We nearly managed to get all of us on the Blipgroup shot which is in extras, but we had lost three of the group by the point as they were so keen to get into the actual exhibition!

By the time we'd finished lunch and had a good gossip, it was absolutely pouring with rain so we wandered off over the Millennium Bridge and into Tate Modern.  Then, into the Radical Eye exhibition which is a collection of Modernist photographs from 1920 - 1950, all in the collection of Sir Elton John.  Personally, I loved them. Fascinatingly documenting the age and demonstrating the development of photography of the time. I was very tempted to buy the catalogue, but didn't fancy carrying it home.  I suspect it will be a retrospective purchase.

Tea break time and looking out into the area around Tate Modern, the promised rain/sleet/snow was coming down quite heavily.  Some Blipeers departed round about then but a hardy few were left to go back up to the roof to get some shots of night time bad weather views of London, across the river in various directions.  My Blip is looking across towards St Paul's cathedral through the gloom with the lights of the bridge, the buildings and the red lights of the cranes.  In the extras is a shot looking further down the river towards Southwark Bridge, again showing the amount of building work going on.  Chantler63 thinks I'm becoming obsessed with cranes.  She may be right.

The we had a lovely surprise just before we left!  Redflash stopped by to see us!  It was gone in a flash as the weather was so bad and we all had places to get to, but it was so lovely to meet up at last and have a hug!  That made 22 on our Blipmeet!  Thank you for calling in on your way home!  We will have a proper blip meet with you one day soon I hope.

All that was left then was the trek over the bridge, an extremely busy tube journey back to our individual departure points and the trip home. SHH and I got home at about 10.45 to a very cold Birmingham.  We've had a great day with great people seeing some great things so that you all Blippers!  You are great!  If you wee this, could you tag your Blip Tatemodernblipmeet so we stand a chance of being able to find them all please?  Thank you!
