Asterix

I do not know for how long this shed has stood here, but it became visible only in the past few months when the grove in which it stands was cleaned. I am fond of its pastel shades; clotted cream, pistachio green, baby pink against its galvanised grey. The trees have been hard-pruned leaving just a few spindly tufts remaining on an ancient and sturdy trunk. This treatment has always reminded me of the Roman army in camouflage in the Asterix books. The owner no doubt has a large pile of good timber well stacked and seasoning ready for future winters, unless of course he has been using it fresh this winter because olive wood is versatile like that and it can be burned fresh. Either way, this pruning has saved his trees from the devastation of the snow. The length of the island other majestic olive groves are an appalling mess.
