Quod oculus meus videt

Trees on Trees

I've been experimenting with photographs in the last few weeks where trees have as a backdrop, more trees.  The idea is to attempt to get the layers to be separate, often something that is quite difficult.  Mist helps a lot, allowing the nearer trees to retain structure while the trees further away are less distinct.

I'm not sure if it is going anywhere as yet, but in the dull and mist we have been experiencing over the last few days, the weather conditions have lent themselves to further experimentation.  The trees that stand out in this image are some 40-50 yards in front of the small wood behind.

This is from a stitched panoramic image and I did consider a much tighter crop, removing the foreground fields and fence line, but in the end I liked the layering effect.
