Gimmer Day . . .

. . . at B&Q.

Translation/Explanation for anyone needing it
Gimmer is technically the term used in sheep farming for a two year old ewe, but is used more informally (and often pejoratively) to describe an elderly person.

B&Q is a nationwide store for DIY/household goods.

On Wednesdays B&Q Diamond Club Members (you have to be over 60 to join) get a 10% discount on everything.

It is usually busier than this in B&Q on a Wednesday, but I suppose January is not the most popular time for thinking about home improvements.

We were only in for a lampshade. It cost £5. We then went out for lunch on our 50p saving. I’m afraid that’s how our economics sometimes works!!
