Corkscrew

The corkscrew hazel is growing very well.  It has a wonderful botanical name - corylus avellana contort - and an interesting nickname - Harry Lauder's walking stick.  Its branches head out randomly in all sorts of directions, even trying back on itself.  This is not a plant for those who like symmetry or regularity - definitely for one who can live with the curious and the abstract.

There are some very straight branches coming up from the soil - I'll need to prune these as they are clearly, in this context, the distorted ones.
