Odeon Cinema Harrogate

I have been meaning to blip this building for some time, since many original Odeon cinemas are long gone.

According to a plaque on the building:

The Art Deco style Odeon in Harrogate was designed by Harry Weedon, for the cinema company, and opened in September 1936. It cost £32 000 to build - which would be equivalent to about £1.3m today.

The capacity of the single auditorium was over 1600 seats, but it has been multi-screen for many years.

In 1996, Royal Mail featured the building on stamps to commemorate the Centenary of Cinema see here.
