Bridges, not Walls

"Let us build bridges rather than barriers, openness rather than walls. Rather than borders, let us look at distant horizons together in a spirit of acceptance, helpfulness, cooperation, peace, kindness and especially love.” - Martin Luther King

There has been an effort made by some today, the day when the United States of America holds the inauguration of its 45th President, to focus on the importance of building bridges between communities rather than building walls to divide and segregate.

The notice about this attempt to show the importance of bridges came rather late to organise much, but a few of us were able to get together on a very old bridge from Thomas Telford (see extra shot) in the centre of Smethwick, a racially extremely diverse community, to show our belief in  neighbourliness, kindness and love as guiding forces in our lives.

This evening I have an appointment with my Member of Parliament.  I'm going to share with him some of my experiences of the justice and punishment systems in this nation of ours...
There's a first time for everything!
