Nesting Fulmars

There are now chattering pairs of northern fulmars  (Fulmarus glacialis) on some of the local cliffs They have only recently returned to reclaim their old nesting sites.

Although looking a little like a gull at first glance, they belong to a totally different group of birds called petrels.  All petrels have tube nostrils located above their bill.
