Camping trip Canberra

Back blip for 20th. Yesterday we went to the Australian War Memorial. We arrived before it opened and stayed until close.

A big day out.

Blips include a Lancaster Bomber G ( for George). It was one of the lucky ones. The trouble with war is that there are two sides and everyone loses something in the process.
Lower left is a soldier and his dog, Canberra vista showing our old and new Parliament House buildings, Memorial wall with names of those who lost their lives in all the wars, with poppies attached, and finally on the right are a close up of the inside of the dome and below flowers laid in the closing ceremony. Every day they choose one family to lay a wreath for their loved one. This young man died about 100 years ago leaving a wife and child. His granddaughter and her depends were there which was very moving.

What the men and women had to endure is unbelievable. I guess I am so lucky to have grown up in this era and in this country.

Today we are at the National Museum of Australian looking at an exhibition lent from the British Museum of " A history of the World through 100 Objects" - not a good place for blipping with fancy lights and glass.
