If you can't beat them...

Male Brambling.

Sorry another through the window bird shot!  These dark damp days don't tempt me out and I am lacking in inspiration.

The shot shows a Male Brambling which was feeding among the Chaffinches among the Irises under the feeding station.  Bramblings are winter visitors from the Scandinavian countries.  We only get them in the garden occasionally and generally singles.  Today we had three together.

Bramblings are found during winter over about two thirds of the country obviously avoiding the Scottish Mountains.  A few do hang around during the summer.  However during 2007 -11 (the years of the BTO Atlas survey) there was no confirmed breeding.
