Gibbston Valley Summer Winery Tour

A group of us went to the Summer Winery Tour Concert at Gibbston Valley Winery.  It has been held yearly for 7 years now and two of this group have actually been to all 7 shows.  This was only my second attendance.

Every year they put together a line up of older acts.  This year it was Bonnie Tyler, Icehouse and The Alan Parsons Project.

Knowing that the weather was going to be lousy, and that umbrellas are really a no-no at a concert, K purchased us matching team hats.  They turned out to be marvellous.  Great as a sunshade for the first third of the day, when it stayed fine, and perfect for keeping all our heads (and particularly glasses!) dry through the rest of the day.

A great day out - 16,000 people rocking it out in plastic ponchos.  (What a great invention they were!).

The day necessitated a fair bit of travel.  All the others left Kaiapoi at about 3.30 a.m., picked me up about 5.30 and continued on down to arrive at Gibbston at 10 a.m. for the express entry.  Left the concert at 7 and dropped me off just after midnight.  Then they had the further 2 hour drive home.  A long day, but worth it.
