In the end

I think most people knew, or guessed, that we were heading for South Africa and would arrive in Cape Town, as we have done this several times before. I was determined that my blip on our first day should be a picture of the unmistakeable outline of Table Mountain overlooking Cape Town.

However, as we arrived the mountain was covered in cloud, so not so unmistakeable. Yes, cloud and even a bit of rain! But it is sunny, very warm and unbelievably light and bright. It’s the light that brings us here time and time again, and we are never disappointed, even when there is cloud around.

Gradually the cloud lifted and we watched it as we walked by the sea. But I had to wait until sunset to see the Table top properly. This is the view we have from our hotel, just outside the city at Bloubergstrand, right by the Atlantic Ocean. We are staying here a couple of nights, before heading out along the Garden Route to the other coast – the Indian Ocean.
