The National Monument, Edinburgh

The National Monument and Observatory from a fair way off  as the sun was rising this morning.

I read recently that a block of sandstone weighing 1500 tons was moved from Craigleith Quarry - now the site of Sainsburys amongst others - to Calton Hill for one of the foundation stones for the Monument.
