Day 27, today's line drawn from Glossop town centre goes straight down Surrey Street past the football ground.

Glossop North End FC, the Hillmen, are currently safely mid-table in the North West Counties League Premier Division. This is a long way from the top flight, Division One in the old days, which they managed for only one season in their history 1899-1900 but they remained a Football League club until WW1.

In more recent years they had a day in the national news going down 2-0 at Wembley stadium to Whitley Bay in the FA Vase final of 2009.  This was a big day in the town said to be the smallest ( at the time ) to ever have has a Football league side and highlighted a link with Arsenal FC.

Arsenal made them welcome before that final and allowed them to use their training ground. The link is the Hill-Wood family who before their Arsenal days were the money behind North End's glory days at the start of the 20th century.
