Brambling

Pulled back the curtains first thing to spot two unfamiliar visitors to the elder tree.  The male bullfinch drops by very infrequently but I think it is probably too open for him.  They prefer dense undergrowth and shrubbery.  Anyway he didn't hang around and I didn't get a blip but I enjoyed seeing him.  Meanwhile I spotted a flash of colour I didn't recognise amongst the regulars and then there were two, a pair of bramblings!  They were struggling to work out how to land on the feeders but the female eventually managed it.  I'll just have to hope they reappear for GardenBirdWatch this weekend!  It's horrible out there so I think it will be a sedentary day finishing the jumper and catching up with journals.
