Downpour

It absolutely bucketed down with rain this morning, as per the forecast. We went into Motril anyway to attend the intercambio at the organic cafe, that we had been told about last week. There were about eight of us, all Spanish except for us and the organiser, M. She tried her best to keep people on topic, but the discussion was often riotous, concluding with a highly dramatic account of a traditional Moroccan wedding (kidnapping, camels, gunshots) by A. We enjoyed it though; people were very friendly, and we'll go again.

By the time we came out it had stopped raining. We resisted all temptations to have lunch in town and returned home for boiled massive eggs from the local shop. In the afternoon it did clear up -- the sun even came out -- so we went to Vélez's jardín Nazari, a traditional Moorish walled garden. It's hardly an ideal time of year to visit, but you can see it must be lovely in spring and summer, with gurgling water everywhere and a mixture of ferns, mosses, flowering plants, citrus trees, and vegetables. I'm afraid that given the conditions, my photos weren't inspiring, so here's an odd photo of a morning glory that I rather liked, for Flower Friday.

Supper will be some fine red mullet I bought from the fish market in Motril. In other news, our house-sitter R sent me a photo of Mystère sitting on her lap! Amazing :) He may have forgotten us by the time we get back.
