Birthday

Birthdays can be enough to mess with anyone's head! So here's a slightly anxious-looking self-portrait to mark the day on which I made my entrance into the world!

Thanks, as always, are due to my mother for having done all the hard work!

I never forget that today is also Holocaust Memorial Day. This year, as the US President prepares to build his wall, it feels particularly important to call out bigotry, hatred and attempts to blame 'the other'. And to stand up for equality, diversity and human rights for all, regardless of faith, race, culture, gender identity, sexuality, age or any form of 'difference'. We know what can happen if we choose to look the other way.

I can't think of anyone more perfect to mark today with, musically, than the glorious Ezra Furman - a proudly gender-fluid, bisexual, observant Jew. Here's 'Body Was Made' www.youtube.com/watch?v=RhUyyWGXHPo

"Your body is yours at the end of the day
Don't let the hateful try and take it away
We want to be free
yeah we go our own way
and our body was made"
