Russalka

Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman were playing at Charfield Village Hall tonight.  "Shall we go, would you like tickets?", asked Incredibish some weeks ago.  The name rang bells and a quick google check reminded me that Sean Lakeman was Seth Lakeman's older brother, and that the duo were the Radio 2 Folk Awards best duo for 2016.  So a plan was hatched.

In the event the duo were tremendous and I'm definitely a fan.  They are well worth catching live if you like real musicianship and songwriting.  Frustratingly from our seats I couldn't manage to get a good shot of both of them together at the same time, as they were on opposite sides of the stage, so for my main shot here is the wonderful Kathryn, a Barnsley lass blessed with a lovely voice and a sparkling personality.  As an extra I've put up a shot of the masterful guitarist Sean.

Here's a link to one of the numbers they played, their own composition Russalka, a hauntingly beautiful number with a dark core about an evil mermaid / siren who wants menfolk as food for her offspring ....
