Up on the Mountain

Where to today?  The x-country tracks are really icy. Off the tracks there is very shallow frozen snow and very little grip.
Okay, we take the "stoat" (vessla - See extra picture) up onto the mountain, to the waffle cabin, and see how it is. There was room in the tracked vehicle, for Jan, but not for me so I was towed up the mountain behind the "stoat",
Once up on the mountain we took other tracks and skied around (see extra). Here we had crossed over the pass and were looking back to the sun with its halo - You can see the extra rainbow above Jan's head, and its twin the other side of the sun. The crosses mark the path and aren't really necessary with so little snow, but I have been out in a storm when you could hardly see one cross from another and when some crosses were nearly buried in the 2 metre deep snow. Unfortunately we don't get winters like that any more.
It was an extremely nice day up in the fresh air and the sun. Tomorrow we head for home...
