Lifesaver

Walking through the village this morning the peacefulness of Sunday was broken by a loud noise in the sky. Sure enough a large yellow bird landed in a meadow right behind a friends house.
This is one of the three helicopters operated by the North West Air Ambulance Service. Fortunately it was not my friend who needed its help.
The Service is a Charity which receives no public funding. The £7 million pounds per year which it costs to run it comes entirely from charitable giving. Its staff includes pilots, paramedics and a doctor and it is available 365 days a year.

It was the obvious subject for today' blip but I felt a little guilt at benefitting from someone's dire need. So we have sent a contribution to support the Charity's work.
