Tracks
It seemed weird that there were so many tracks just here but as we walked on, around the shallow valley and up to the red barn seen top right, we could look back and see huge areas of scrapes where these deer had removed the shallow snow and eaten the grass. If they got scared, or just wished to rest, then they headed for the nearest forest, which was where we stood and looked at their tracks.
The tracks stop very suddenly in this picture because the deer jumped from there, over the ditch, to where I am standing.
What sort of deer? The tracks were too big for roe deer and too small for elk so I guess they are from the red deer that escaped from a deer farm many years ago and seem to have happily adjusted to life in the north.
