Damselfly……………….

…………….........……I Think!


An unexpected visitor to my garden this afternoon. Sadly, it didn’t linger.

I searched the internet and I think this could be a Red Damselfly, a native to New Zealand -  perhaps someone can confirm?  If it is, then it is the most common damselfly found in NZ.

Damselflies fold their wings over their body when they land.
Dragonflies hold their wings open.
