Gem of the Caribbean- Curacao

This is what we came to the Caribbean for – sun, sea and sand.

And Mambo beach on the Dutch Caribbean Island  of Curacao lives up to everything claimed in the most effusive of holiday brochures. No wonder it’s becoming a popular tourist destination with international flights coming direct to the island.

Still it came as something of a surprise at 3pm when a young man came along reminding us that our ticket expired at 3.30pm and the beach had been block booked by the next cruise ship and could we please absent ourselves by then.

No problem because we wanted to see Willemstad, granted World Heritage status by UNESCO because of its architectural beauty with its candy-coloured, red roofed houses.

 Life on board ship
What happens if you are late back on board ship?
Well you will find your luggage dumped on the pier. The ship waits for no one. This  happened last week.
And it nearly happened again today. We kept hearing frantic calls over the tannoy for a Mr and Mrs Turk to report to reception desk.
Their arrival three minutes before due to sail was greeted by a slow hand clap from the waiting crew. The couple never apologised, just smiled and waved.. They were well inebriated without a care in the world.

Please excuse the lack of comments, simply getting a photo up with poor internet access is a challenge in itself.
