'Tis the Season

The mild spell brings new crocuses into flower every day so no apologies but they will feature heavily here for a while :-)  This one is a form of Crocus biflorus (in the broadest sense) a very variable group of species which came to me under the name Crocus biflorus ssp nubigena.  I love the black anthers which open to reveal golden pollen, a wonderful contrast.

I spoke too soon yesterday - feeling rubbish again today.  There seem to be plenty of folk with a similar virus which comes and goes over up to six weeks :-(   Jamie is out and about the house a little more today, very excited to have made butter by shaking cream in a sealed tub!  Ruth should be home at the weekend on the train so we look forward to a family day on Sunday.
