The silver ribbon

...or spot the owl!

After a very convivial, and tasty, lunchtime planning meeting for the South Lincolnshire Flora Group, which extended well into the afternoon, I dropped into Baston Fen for some exercise and fresh air before heading home. My arrival coincided with a freshening breeze and the arrival of some rather steely clouds.

The only barn owl I saw was perched in a willow some distance away, and immediately lifted off and floated away over the silvery River Glen towards a derelict barn on the far bank. The other highlight was flushing a snipe, that was feeding in the semi-flooded meadow.
