How To Block a Knitted Shawl

It helps if you have a friend who has done this before. And it helps to have a blocking board (a padded surface with lines and numbers). First you wet the shawl, just put it in the sink and slop it around. Wrap in a big towel and stomp the excess water out as best you can. Then arrange the piece on the board, pinning it into a proper curve. There are clever long thin rods that you can weave along the edges for this very purpose. Leave in a warm spot, in this case by the kitchen window, until it dries. The kitchen window will cause glare on the photo. The shawl will look terrific when it dries.
