digging

D and Jess are digging  the holes for the six new apple trees. You can see one of the three existing apple trees on the right. All three are very old and produce prolific amounts of apples. Even though we gave some to Max for his cider-making, we still have some left in the cellar and stew a few most nights for our evening meal.

The holes are 2ft wide and 1ft deep. They will be filled in with compost, wood ash and water mixed with juice from the wormery. The stakes and protective sleeves are waiting beside the holes.

Now all we need is the trees to be delivered.
