Under My Skin

Born in southern Germany, Katharina Halser grew up with Vascular Malformation - a complex condition that manifests itself in anomalies in veins, lymph vessels and arteries. To deal with the condition she must undergo the same medical procedure again and again, counting 71 operations by now.

Such courage and what a charming and positive young woman. It was a delight to meet her and she took me on an explanatory tour of her photo exhibition. A series of pictures in the hospital where she has been treated. Absolutely brilliant and original. I loved them. 

She intends this body of work to show what makes her who she is today. The pictures won an award from Free Range who sponsor exhibitions in the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane. 

It was a real privilege to meet Katharina and I think she is destined to continue taking great photography.
