twinned with trumpton

Up at 7; at the Balmoral for 8 to collect Baz and off into steady rain up the M9 and A82.  Through Callander and Killin and off up the hill towards ben Lawers.

Meall nan Tarmachan was the goal. We parked up just past the Lawers car park and the snow was already falling.

We duly happed up and headed out; winding our way slowly up in decreasing visibility and increasing snow. Thankfully there were others ahead of us to break a trail and provide direction. By the time we walked over the outlying top, visibility was 25 yards and falling, snow a good 6 inches.

Halfway up, she got a call from her girl
"Hi honey, I'm halfway up a snowy mountain, it's blowing a blizzard, I'm knee deep in snow, and can't really see where I'm going"'

[..pause..]

"No, no everything's fine, I'm having a great time!"

The final climb up the steep ravine was fun; but we popped out onto the final little ridge; almost total white out - again the footprints provided direction as there was no real clues as to where the ground ended and fresh air started.

We slithered back down; met about 40 people heading up; one of whom did their best to break their leg; thankfully they didn't.

And 3 hours 20 mins into the day, we were back at the car, and firing into the soup.

Then home; uneventful; a hot bath and loads of tea and a peaceful evening in.
